A view that differs from that held by many current hill enthusiasts, but is possibly shared with many of the general public. This, I think, helps explain many of the so-called 'discrepancies'.Coiruisghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08207323355266226456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5953799252258289641.post-83644362569099737212021-04-27T10:21:52.409+01:002021-04-27T10:21:52.409+01:00Sais have been doing it for years.Sais have been doing it for years.llangatwgneddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17528755291741394952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5953799252258289641.post-40124360490252596862021-03-03T16:01:39.932+00:002021-03-03T16:01:39.932+00:00Great effort guys! As a fan of Dempster's book, I've thought for some time that I would like to see a 'Hughs Furth of Scotland' list so you can imagine my delight at seeing your UKH article. Have you thought about producing companion lists for England (perhaps incorporating the Isle of Man) and Ireland? I recently started putting my own very rough list together for England and would be very happy to share my suggestions with you, though I doubt you need my help! I see Adrian Hendroff is a past guest contributor to this blog - doubtless he would be able to offer a wealth of great suggestions for Ireland. Anyway, thanks again for this inspirational list.NeilChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06442215857495974904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5953799252258289641.post-55363560609325621652021-02-07T23:01:35.946+00:002021-02-07T23:01:35.946+00:00Just curious there are 2 higher spot heights in th...Just curious there are 2 higher spot heights in the area did you survey them?Xhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08718451297786057671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5953799252258289641.post-46075078138613027412020-12-17T18:52:17.395+00:002020-12-17T18:52:17.395+00:00Wow well done!Just came across this page How is i...Wow well done!Just came across this page How is it going? I fully support John's general principle, though if it were my decision I would make the strip 100 metres wide (or at most 200 metres) rather than 400 metres. (Or you could make it 500 metres with the result that Hay Bluff becomes a dual hill.) This would stop many silly and time-wasting arguments about which tuft of grass is higher.

However I would not favour the approach to be confined to Deweys and Donald Deweys. It would need to be more generally applied, and in practice I think the chances of the DoBIH team (and other keen hillwalkers) agreeing are zero.

David PurchaseDeltaPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05623902386769868461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5953799252258289641.post-84747946107539445762019-03-10T18:24:47.135+00:002019-03-10T18:24:47.135+00:00Inspiring.
