The following has just been reported by Chris Watson on The Relative Hills of Britain Facebook page:
I am sorry to let the baggers amongst you know that Ann Bowker, one of
the first entrants to the Marilyn Hall of Fame, passed away peacefully at her
nursing home in Maryport yesterday evening.
Ann was a prodigious walker and traveller and along with her husband, Rowland, had visited the majority of countries in the world, often visiting their high points. They fell just short of completing the Marilyns as ill health and old age prevented them climbing the St Kilda Wall.
Our condolences go to her son, Martin, who was able to visit her at the
end.

Ann
was an inspiration to many, including myself.
She was the first person to complete a continuous walk over the Welsh
Nuttalls. Writing of her experience with
Across the Dragon’s Back appearing on
her Mad about Mountains website.
Ann
was pre-deceased by her husband; Rowland, less than two years ago. I had the pleasure to meet Ann and Rowland on
a number of occasions and conducted interviews with both, arranging to visit
them at their home in Portinscale in Cumbria.
The interview with Ann concentrated on her continuous walk over the
Welsh Nuttalls.
Ann
was an inspiring person with enthusiasm for the hills and will be sadly missed.
The
interview with Ann appears below, and I hope in some small way it is a
testament to her walk and passion for the hills.
At
this sad time my thoughts are with Ann’s family and loved ones.
