The Welsh P15s - schedule for updates

The Welsh P15s

All Welsh hills with 15m minimum prominence

One of the major projects that has kept me busy during the current lock down is LIDARing the whole of Ynys Môn down to P14, using The Welsh P15s list completed in May 2019 as the template.  This took a number of weeks to complete, resulting in two new P30s being discovered; one qualifying due to a cutting, and the confirmation of a number of additions, reclassifications and deletions to the P20 Sub-Twmpau list.

In addition to more accurate numerical data and place-name information being produced for the Twmpau and Dominant lists it also enabled the larger P15 list to be updated.  This has also resulted in a number of additions, reclassifications and deletions to the main P15 and the Sub P14 lists.

As Ynys Môn was the first Group listed for The Welsh P15s it was only appropriate that it should also be the first to be analysed with available LIDAR.  This has resulted in over 240 impending blog posts to catalogue all significant changes to the Twmpau, Dominant and P15 lists.

Over the last few years I have posted regularly on a daily basis on Mapping Mountains, but the work recently completed on this project has created a wealth of additional information.  Even though I enjoy detail and the documenting of change the Mapping Mountains site is too versatile for it to be dominated by so many posts relating to one Group of hills.

But these changes should still be documented.  Therefore, for the foreseeable future Mapping Mountains will host two articles per day.  The first will be scheduled at 7.00am which has been the norm since the site was first made public, and the second relating to the changes instigated from LIDARing the hills of Ynys Môn and its associated islands will be scheduled for publication at 7.00pm.

The work involved with such a schedule dictates that not all days will have a double instalment of articles, but as time and inclination permits this is my plan.  It is also planned to publish this first Group of The Welsh P15s on Mapping Mountains in downloadable Google Doc format in May of this year.
